Thanks to all 30BARACK Earth Day Volunteers!
30BARACK recruited nearly 50 volunteers for an Earth Day effort, in partnership with North East Trees, to restore the wetland at Rio de Los Angeles State Park. Los Angeles City Councilman Ed Reyes kicked off the event with welcoming remarks including a big shout out to 30BARACK volunteers for lending a hand on such an important and worthy project.
It was a magnificent day; all the participants had tons of fun, enjoying good company and community spirit, and left filled with an enormous sense of satisfaction at time well spent.
"The day we spent planting oak trees with North East Trees and 30BARACK was one of the most fun and rewarding days I have had in a long time. It was incredible to see the commitment and devotion to this great cause from the seasoned politicians down to enthusiastic elementary schoolers. We all came together to make a difference in the community, one park at a time. It was a great testament to the heart of all the organizations involved, and I very much look forward to the next one!"
- Brent Freeman, 30BARACK Volunteer
30BARACK volunteers planted, mulched and watered thirty beautiful oak trees like this one.
The work 30BARACK volunteers did in a single day -- removing non-native invasive plants and planting native species -- would have taken the North East Trees staff months to accomplish.
Dear 30BARACK Volunteers,
Thank you so much for coming and working with us at our Earth Day event. You helped us with our wetland restoration project by planting 30 Oak Trees, removing over 20 bags of non-native invasive species, and watering and nurturing innumerable plants and shrubs that we have been planting over the last several months. The work your group did was invaluable to our project and we all had fun while we achieved so much. Thank you so much for all your hard work and we look forward to seeing you again.
